The US and Israel have launched several attacks on Iran since the first one, and Iran has begun to fight back.
After this first bombing that killed at least 165 people (Newsday, 2026), people have been on edge, waiting to see what will happen. ABC News has been posting updates on this situation frequently at the following website: Iran live updates: Trump blasts NATO allies as ‘COWARDS’ over Strait of Hormuz – ABC News.
A Google Form was created to ask people their opinions of this situation. Some of the questions include: political affiliation, if they’ve heard about the potential war, and where they heard about it, do they think this war should happen and why, and if they think this could evolve into another World War.
When asked their political affiliation 33.3% of respondents identified as Republican or conservative, 33.3% identified as Democrat or liberal, and the final 33.3% said they do not align with the beliefs of any political party. All respondents said they heard about this potential war on a form of social media. 100% of respondents said that they do not think the US should go to war with Iran.
When asked their thoughts on this situation, one respondent said, “We aren’t helping or solving anything, we’re harming. Iran bombed 5 countries, yes, but that doesn’t mean we have to. You can’t stop violence with more violence. Somehow, someway, the cycle will continue and repeat. Children have died from their school being bombed. Hate the government, not the children. They don’t deserve to be killed; they aren’t even old enough to know what war is. Hospitals have been hit, why are we bombing the already sick and injured who are hospital bed ridden and defenseless? The World Health Organization has identified 13 hospitals attacked by the U.S/Israel in Iran, 100 in Lebanon/surrounding area. This war has been going on for years; it isn’t a recent problem, but it’s a big problem regardless, and it needs to end before more LIVES are ended.” Another individual said, “The US is failing as a country and making it any and every other person’s problem.”
When asked why they think the US should or should not go to war, a respondent said “I don’t think war is actually solving anything.” Another said, “It’s Israel’s war, also I’m in the military lol”. A third said, “They got money for wars, but can’t feed the poor.” War is only causing more problems, not solving any that need the budget that’s going into these wars. People are starving, children are dying, people are losing their homes, some people never had homes to lose to begin with.”
Another question that was asked was, “Do you think this has the potential to evolve into a third World War?” One respondent said, “I believe that’s Israel’s main goal.” Another said, “Yes, nuclear bombs and children dying is way closer to world war than it is to world peace.”
