RD Roundup – Introducing The RD Hires For The 2026-2027 School Year

By Faith Yoho

WVWC’s Campus Life Office has recently announced the students that will lead the residence halls as resident directors for next school year.

Resident Directors play a vital role in helping to ensure the safety and comfortability of WVWC’s students. They support each resident hall’s resident assistants and the campus life office in planning programming and communicating rules and regulations that help create beneficial and supportive environments for the campus community to live in.

The following students have been named Resident Directors for the next school year:

Trey Greer

Matthew Hatfield

Elisha Taylor

Bradley Helmick

Jesslyn Hogston

Kai Toler

Meredith Cottrell

Elisha Taylor, a new hire, says, “getting hired is an honor for me. It means that I am trusted to represent Campus Life, maintain confidentiality, and be a bridge between students and staff in the Campus Life office. I am looking forward to meeting the staff I will be working with and getting to know the students that live in the residence hall I work in!”

“I wanted to be an RD because I have worked with amazing RDs in the past. These mentors taught me what it is like to be a leader, how to manage a staff that is close in age to you, and how to balance the responsibilities with classes and extracurriculars. I also want to be someone whom people can come to for advice, if they have an issue, or just a question they need answered. I think being that person for people is an honor and a huge responsibility. This is also a position that will benefit me when applying for jobs after graduation,” shared Taylor.

For those wondering what the application process to become an RD is, Taylor says, “The hiring process consisted of filling out an application and interviewing with members of the Campus Life Staff. Questions consisted of things like my leadership skills, how I would handle situations, and what I would do to promote community within the residence halls. I was a Resident Assistant for two years before being hired as an RD. My interview was with the Assistant Director of Campus Life, Colby Wamsley, and the Housing Coordinator, Bethany Russell. There were about two weeks between my interview and finding out I got the position.”

When asked what she would tell other students who may be interested in working for Campus Life, Taylor says, “apply! It is an amazing opportunity to get to know more students, learn more about campus, and grow your resume!”

The Pharos would like to congratulate the new hires and are sure that they will do an incredible job.
