Earlier this semester, West Virginia Wesleyan College welcomed a new addition to campus life: Stone Tower Brews, a local favorite, which has now opened its doors right in the heart of campus.
Stone Tower is known for its cozy atmosphere and craft coffee. Students and faculty were eager for its arrival, quickly making it a popular spot on campus to study, socialize, and unwind between classes.
The café, located in the Benedum Campus Center, offers a full coffee menu along with teas and various grab-and-go items. Since its opening, the space has been buzzing with students enjoying lattes over laptops or catching up between classes.
“Students and faculty have been loving the new addition to campus,” Savannah Herrod, a WVWC student and Stone Tower barista, stated, “There are always students sitting in the campus location studying, and several faculty have started using the Stone Tower space to have their office hours. The campus location isn’t quite as busy as our Main Street location, but it fits our more intimate setting well.”
Beyond the coffee, Stone Tower’s presence has offered something invaluable to campus life: a comfortable, central space to connect. “I think that the Stone Tower campus location adds another great place to study. It’s super convenient for many of the nursing majors, people who are a part of the CCE, and it offers a nice space to wait for lunch,” Herrod explained.
Not only has this experience been great for the WVWC community to come together, but it has been an opportunity for Stone Tower to grow as an establishment. “My favorite part about working at the campus location is getting to interact with all the different people,” Herrod exclaimed, “I get to talk with students, staff, and faculty from all over campus. We have so many different things to choose from, but it always makes my day when people just say, ‘Surprise me!’”
Looking forward, Herrod hopes Stone Tower’s involvement on campus continues to grow. “I hope to see more student organizations collaborating with Stone Tower on campus,” she said. “Our manager, Lisa, is always open to collaborating with people and organizations if she can.”
As the school year continues, the café stands for more than just a coffee shop, but rather a place where students can slow down, connect, and feel at home. With its friendly staff, cozy setting, and community spirit, Stone Tower Brews is already proving to be a strong new staple in the WVWC experience.
