Formal recruitment has come and gone at West Virginia Wesleyan College
The four sorority chapters at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Alpha Gamma Delta, held their formal recruitment last month. Potential New Members (PNMs) participated in four nights of recruitment: Open House, Sisterhood, Philanthropy, and Preference, where they were able to learn more about each chapter, their values, sisterhood, philanthropies, and more. The week wrapped up with Bid Day, held on January 18th.
On bid day, PNMs gather in the lobby of Agnes Howard Hall (Aggie) to open their bid cards. It is then tradition that they run down the steps of Aggie to their new sisters, this is referred to as “running home.” Each sorority then leads their new sisters around campus while chanting and listening to music, before ending at their respective suites.
Recruitment would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the Panhellenic Exec Board, each chapter’s respective Recruitment chair/Vice President, as well as the sisters of each chapter. Chapters spend months preparing for recruitment and hold several training sessions to make sure their members are ready to make PNMs feel as comfortable as possible.
Remmey Lohr, a senior at West Virginia Wesleyan College, served as Vice President of Recruitment for Alpha Delta Pi during this formal recruitment season.
“Formal recruitment week is full of tears, beautiful connections, and a strong love for Greek Life,” Lohr says, “It was an honor to be chosen by my sisters to run our chapter’s recruitment process. It took a ton of time, preparation, and commitment, but was totally worth it in the end when we [Alpha Delta Pi] were able to witness 10 beautiful alphas run home!”
“My sisters trusting me with such a large responsibility had presented me with an amazing opportunity and allowed me to realize how much they believed in me. I can’t thank them enough for that,” Lohr also shared.
Each chapter had a successful recruitment season this year, with each receiving a plethora of amazing new members.
Mary Felts, a freshman at West Virginia Wesleyan College, ran home to Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) on bid day this year.
“Going through recruitment was a great experience, and I loved getting to know all of the sororities. As a new member of ZTA, I’ve enjoyed meeting new people, and I’m excited for what the future holds as a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha,” Felts said.
Brianna Dalton, who is also a freshman at West Virginia Wesleyan College, found her home with the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi.
“Going through formal recruitment allowed me to meet so many lovely ladies throughout all of Greek Life. As a new member, I’m excited to grow individually, and within the amazing friendships I have made,” Dalton shared.
Congratulations to all new members of our sororities, as well as the current sisters.
