Greek Life is Ready for 2025 Spring Recruitment

By: Nora Carroll

From the day students arrive back to campus in January, spring recruitment will be in full swing. The Greek Organizations on campus have started preparing for the recruitment process in the spring semester.

There are nine Greek Organizations on campus to be aware of if you are interested in recruitment. The five fraternities are Alpha Sigma Phi, Chi Phi, Kappa Alpha Order, Theta Chi, and Theta Xi, and the four sororities are Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Xi Delta, and Zeta Tau Alpha.

Greek life is much more than it seems in movies. Each Greek organization has deeply rooted foundations and traditions. They also each have their own unique national philanthropy, or charity, and local philanthropy they work with, and all of these organizations will come together throughout the school year to help with local community service.

Many people may have doubts about joining Greek Life, but taking the risk is something that many people feel is worth it!

“Greek life has not only fostered personal growth in my leadership skills but also relational growth in how I communicate with people” Alpha Xi Delta’s Outgoing President and Chi Phi Sweetheart exclaims, “I have made lifelong friends who I have grown to consider family. Greek life is and will always be one of my biggest support systems”

The Sororities will be hosting formal recruitment the week of January 13. Each night is dedicated to various events, Monday: Open House, Wednesday: Sisterhood, Thursday: Philanthropy, Friday: Preference, and Saturday: Bid Day.

In order to go through formal recruitment, there is a form that is available on WVWC’s Greek Life social media and QR codes throughout campus that needs to be filled out beforehand!

Throughout January, each fraternity will be holding open houses for potential new members. Alpha Sigma Phi will host theirs on January 15, Chi Phi on January 16, Kappa Alpha on January 20, Theta Chi on January 21, and Theta Xi on January 22.

The Fraternities will be giving out their bids towards the end of the month of January.

To wrap up recruitment season, the Fraternities and Sororities on campus will “unveil” their pledges for the semester on February 2 in the quad during Jump. Jump is a gathering of the nine Greek Organizations, celebrating the expansion of brotherhood and sisterhood to the pledges of Spring 2025.To learn more about West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Greek Life, you can visit https://www.wvwc.edu/student-involvement/ or follow on Instagram or Facebook @WVWC_Greek!
