The Fall semester of 2024 is starting to come down to a countdown till the finish and students are starting to prepare for upcoming finals and presentations to round out the semester.
For freshmen, it will be their first year experiencing the finals schedule for college but for returning or transferring students will have an upper hand knowing the schedule and what to expect. Finals are the part of the semester where classes conclude and usually end with a big exam or presentation. Students are required to work hard and study to prepare for these exams with the time dwindling down.
Another important part of the semester coming to an end is becoming prepared for the next semester. With less than a month left in the semester, students are also required to make their schedule for the next semester. Depending on your major some students may have to take specific classes based on the major that they have declared or even finish up taking general ed classes that are required by every student to take no matter the major you are in. An example of how signing up for classes work is that students need to find the classes that are required by their major to take and plug them into the website to be set for the next semester. Mason Halfin, a student at West Virginia Wesleyan said that “I am a Sports Business major so for next semester I will be taking a couple classes that are part of my major and one class for example is Sports Finance which will help me complete the required classes for my major.” With that being said, since he is a sophomore he is able to start doing more major classes since he finished most of his general education classes his freshman year.
As the days keep counting down till the semester ends, students and athletes are starting to hit the books for the finish line to ace all of their exams and classes as well. The library usually tends to be more filled during this time of year since some classes are asked to do projects and students work together there as well as other students just studying there since it’s a quiet place. “I’ve started working about an hour a day in the library, studying for my finals and starting to write my final paper for one of my classes,” says Halfin. With classes being tough and workload starting to increase, students are trying to make the final push of the semester to succeed and end the semester on a high note.
