This is the introduction to the turn-around season for the football team at West Virginia Wesleyan College because there are new coaches and new players and returning coaches and players ready to win some games.
One coach named Coach Ethen Jefferson said, “I’m feeling good about the season so far. We can only get better from the week 1 loss against Post. The biggest strides from the team will be from week 1 to week 2.” Also, Coach Ethen Jefferson is the 2nd year coaching the linebacker and Coach Ethen Jefferson is a great linebacker coach. Ethen Jefferson took the 2023 season off and returned to Wesleyan for the 2024 season for his 3rd season as the Linebackers Coach! In his first two seasons he had an All-Conference LB in 2021 and 2022. Jefferson from Massillon, Ohio graduated from Ohio University in 2021.
Player Dariuse Cooper said, “I feel good about this upcoming season. We added a lot of valuable pieces on both sides of the ball as well as on the coaching staff. Everyone is on the same page about tryna start the turnaround this season. If we continue to get better every day it will all come together.” Also, Dariuse Cooper is in the class of 2020, but he is a 5th year student at West Virginia Wesleyan College, and he started on the football team all 5 years that he was here, and Cooper wears number 1, and he plays Receiver for West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Player Colyn Webster said, “I feel good about the upcoming season, we have a good mix of new faces and returners on both sides of the ball and as long as we can gel, I believe it will be a very productive season.” Also, Colyn Webster is in the class of 2025, in the classroom he is a senior, and he is linebacker for WVWC, and he started at West Virginia Wesleyan College, and he wears number 0.
Player Marquis Phifer said “I feel good about the upcoming season. It’s a lot of new faces and those mixes of new faces all bring something to the team from size all the way down to talent, this year we have taken a better step then last year this year looks a lot brighter.” Also, Marquis Phifer is in the class of 2023, and he is a red shirt freshman on the football team and in the classroom he is a sophomore and he was linebacker for WVWC and he wears number 33.
