WVWC Communication Majors Showcase Senior Capstones

By: Chloe Sotomayor

Capstone Presentation Night is set to be a day of celebration and accomplishment as senior Communication majors at West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC) gear up to showcase their senior capstone projects. The event marks the culmination of years of hard work, creativity, and dedication for the graduating students.

WVWC’s Communication program has long held a strong reputation for its unwavering focus on practical and hands-on experiences. The senior capstone projects stand as a testament to the program’s commitment to providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the ever-evolving field of communication.

The WVWC Communication majors have gone above and beyond with their diverse range of capstone projects. From captivating multimedia presentations to meticulously researched papers, these students will demonstrate not only their versatility but also the depth of their skills.

One student, Jason Wilson Jr., will present an enthralling video exploration of the ways fashion has served as an outlet for marginalized communities to express themselves and advocate for their rights. Wilson’s project successfully captures the stories and perspectives of men from different eras and the evolving fashion trends that have shaped their identities.

Another exceptional project comes from Danica Propst, who has conducted extensive research on fourth-wave feminism’s impact on social media and its influence on Generation Z. Her research paper aims to raise awareness of how the digital age has created space for individualism within the feminist movement, making it a timely and relevant contribution to the field.

With their senior capstone projects nearing completion, the Communication majors at WVWC are on the cusp of embarking on the next chapter of their academic journeys. Whether they choose to pursue careers in journalism, public relations, advertising, or any other communication-related field, these students have gained the essential skills and experiences necessary to excel in their chosen paths.

The senior capstone showcase at WVWC not only serves as a celebration of the students’ achievements but also stands as a testament to the vibrant and forward-thinking Communication program at the college. As these graduates move forward, they are poised to continue making significant contributions to the dynamic world of communication.

For those interested in attending the event, the Senior Capstone Presentation Night will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Greek Alumni Room at the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts. The Communication Department extends a warm welcome to family, friends, and staff to join in congratulating the 2023 graduates as they take their next steps in their academic and professional careers.
