Alex Sutton and Nick Slater Perspective on Greek Life

By: Dylan Ray Major

Greek life at WVWC is always growing and I would like to know what two new guys think about it.

In this interview I am going to be interviewing Alex Sutton and Nick Slater. Alex Sutton is a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Nick Slater is a sophomore from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. The reason why I wanted to interview the two is due to the fact they are both new to Greek life and I wanted to find out what their thoughts were on it now that they are in. In this interview I asked them both the same questions and here are their responses.

What made you want to join Greek Life?

Slater: “I already had a great connection with almost all of the guys in KA and I wanted to extend that relationship further and I knew that I would be welcomed with warm arms.”

Sutton: “I wanted to join Greek life to be a part of something other than baseball. Being a part of something that is new to me and being around different people.”

What are your goals while being in Greek Life?

Slater: “Remain an active member when it comes to events and overall just have a good time and grow as a brother in Kappa Alpha Order.”

Sutton: “I want to become a leader in the fraternity and promote our values to others. I also want to be a big part of getting others to join Greek Life.”

Are you thinking about holding an officer position? Why or Why not?

Slater: “As of now no because I am unsure that I would be able to hold that kind of responsibility for how new I am in the fraternity.”

Sutton: “At this moment I do not want to because I just joined and want to get accustomed to how everything works, but afterwards I would be interested so I can make an impact in the fraternity.”

Do you think joining KA specifically has helped you in any way? Why or Why not?

Slater: “I think it has. I think that it has helped me see the true meaning of a brotherhood and how each member really cares for each other.”

Sutton: “Yes, it helped me develop new skills I didn’t have before and taught me how to be a better person when it comes to working with others.”

Do you recommend others to join Greek life? Why or Why not?

Slater: “Yes I do because I think that it would be a great experience for them and like me they can extent relationships with others.”

Sutton: “yes, it gives you an experience that you can’t get anywhere else and it gives you the opportunity to meet new people and become a part of something that’s bigger than just yourself.”

What’s your greatest memory of Greek life thus far?

Slater: “100% Jump”

Sutton: “Collecting canned goods from the parish house.”
