Theta Chi is starting fresh with its new chapter this semester. The brothers have recently developed a new event that they like to call, “Bonfire Friday.”
Coming to the realization that not many events and activities were held on Fridays by the campus or other fraternities, one of Theta Chi’s newest members Carter Church jumped into action at this startling discovery. Starting every Friday at 9:00 pm, Theta Chi hosts an event for the Wesleyan students at their fraternity house on 74 College Avenue, sitting around a bonfire with friends and having fun.

Church, the new recruitment chair of Theta Chi, had much to say about their new, exciting event.
“It is a social event for everyone to come together to sit and hang out around the fire having a good time,” Church said.
Now, everyone’s mind is turned to the progression of the event and what will come next. New ideas for the event are created every day not only by Church but are a culmination of ideas from the entire fraternity as a whole.
“At the beginning, we only had chairs and a table around the fire pit; now we have recently added games and activities outside around the fire like cornhole, stump, and roasting marshmallows,” Church added. “I plan on adding food to the events like having a barbeque and hot dogs as well as adding a karaoke night to mix things up and to start everyone’s weekend off right.”
More than the fire, this surely brightened up the mood and everyone’s night during their events. Bringing resolution and change to the brothers of Theta Chi, they now have a chance to regroup and gain potential new members for their fraternity.
“It has been a huge success for recruiting PNM’s [Potential New Members] and we have had many freshmen and upperclassmen come out to the event each week,” Church said.
Theta Chi, continuing to uphold the truth, temperance, and tolerance that binds them so closely together, is off to a great start this semester. They have hopes that the students of West Virginia Wesleyan College will come to see the light of the Theta Chi brotherhood by deciding to come out to their new event, as well as their inviting home.
Theta Chi’s bonfire Friday is an event that will not only light up the night but your hearts as well.
