Alpha Xi Delta captured both titles of Spring Weekend in April of 2022, claiming both the Greek Week and Overall Spring Sing champion spots.

Spring Weekend entails many different things here on campus although its highlight would definitely be the Spring Sing Competition in which the sororities and fraternities compete both amongst themselves and then for an overall title in a full-on dance and singing competition, this is also a very important day as it is the final day of Greek Week competition and holds a majority of points within the Greek Week competition.
A staple of the Greek life community at West Virginia Wesleyan, Greek Week is an event that members of this community look forward to each year. April of 2022 was no exception, as the last complete Greek Week and Spring Weekend were back in 2019 prior to COVID, all of the Greek life chapters on campus were thoroughly excited to bring back one of the most longstanding traditions here on campus. With a theme of “2000s Throwbacks,” the fraternities and sororities met to determine who would get which songs to work with and beyond that, the routines remain a secret.
Eager to prove herself as the newly appointed Spring Sing Chair for Alpha Xi Delta, then junior Fallyn Swiger was very excited and determined to succeed and bring home the championship for Alpha Xi Delta, which last won in 2019. Preparations for this event began in February, two months before the event.
“I was anxious as this is something I wasn’t expecting I would do but I was excited to spend time with my sisters and see where it went,” said Swiger.
Swiger had every right to be nervous as leading into the Spring Sing Competition Alpha Xi Delta was in first place for Greek Week but only by a margin of 12 points. Due to Spring Sng being worth so many points within Greek Week it became crucial to winning Spring Sing. Morale was a tad lower than usual heading into Spring Sing for the Xi’s as they had lost a few crucial Greek Week events such as water polo, tug of war, and track events.
Spring Sing was do or die for the Xi’s, and safe to say they did. After all, Swiger had nothing to be worried about. Not only did Alpha Xi Delta bring home the crown in the Sorority category and overall champions, Swiger herself was named Best Director out of both the sororities and the fraternities.
