As the winter months approach, one question that residents in standard housing ask is if all the dorms should have central heating and air conditioning on campus. The only people that would say no to that question may be the people that have to pay for it. As of right now, there are only three dorms on campus that have central heat and air conditioning: Doney Hall, Fleming Hall and Dunn Hall; these dorms are considered “premium housing”. On the other hand, there are four other dorms that plenty of students live in that do not: McCuskey, Holloway, Aggie and Benedum. The students that live in those buildings all know that the fans don’t always get the job done when it’s extremely hot outside, and it results in people sweating while they sleep at night.
Standard housing does not have air conditioning at all, and although they do have heat, students don’t have the ability to control the heat in their dorms and they have to sit in the heat that college makes it. The college has said multiple times that they plan to renovate the dorms; maybe these renovations will include central heating and air conditioning in every single residence hall on campus, instead of just three of the eight residence halls.
