By: Aiyana Morris

The men’s golf team went to Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania on the sixth of September, placing 16th overall. Cedarbrook has two main courses: the red course and the gold course, both with 18 holes on each of them.

Starting the season off strong, five members were especially successful with Alexis Abalos leading the Bobcats with a score of 228 strokes, Davis Haynes with 231 strokes, Dan Morgret with 241 strokes, Kyle Racich with 254 strokes and Matthew Allen finishing with 260 strokes.

The next week, on the 14th of September, the Bobcats traveled to Charleston, West Virginia to participate in the Golden Eagle Invitational at Berry Hills Country Club.  The beautiful course built in 1952, provides 6499 yards, including 18 holes.

Continuing their climbing success, the Bobcats placed eighth overall with Davis Haynes holding the lowest score with a total of 146, tying individually for 11th place. Alexis Abalos also tied individually for 33rd finishing with a score of 154 in total. Dan Morgret finished with 154, Matt Allen shot 161 and Miciah Kennedy finished with a 178.

Member Kyle Racich spoke on the team atmosphere and improvements saying, “The team atmosphere has stayed pretty good from last year to this year. Everyone wants to improve and do as well as they can at every tournament which makes it a great competitive atmosphere. I would say the team has improved this year. We did lose a few good players but the freshmen are all playing well, which is helping out the team and keeping the upperclassman at the top of their game. Personally, I’ve been playing a bit better this year than last year, but I still have to push myself to the next level and become a more consistent player.”
