The most essential component to being an impact on campus is to be unapologetically yourself. The impact that you make on campus will not be the same as the next person’s but at the end of the day it’s yours. Your impact must be something that you can 100% resonate with and excel in. Maybe your passion is diversity and inclusion, athletics, academics, or the LGBTQ+ community. Maybe you’re a phenomenal dancer, nurse, instrumentalist, or aspiring preacher. Whatever your calling may be it must be important to you and something that you can call yours.
The next component of being an impact on campus is actually executing those passions you may have. It is a proven fact that actions actually do speak louder than words. Regardless of the things that you would like to be known for or maybe the things you say you are capable of, if there are no actions to support those ideas than they hold no meaning. Within respect to your specific passion, find ways to constantly display your passions to the campus community. Consistency is crucial in ensuring that people realise your impact and eventually take interest in.
The last component is to bring others along with you on your journey to being an impact on campus. It is very common for people to pay homage to those who came before them when acknowledging why they are passionate about a certain thing. Through you having that positive impact on campus you inevitably enlighten others around to strive for more! Your hard work and dedication will motivate your peers to pursue their passions and from there look out, we’ve got a snowball effect of outstanding students excited to be an impact to campus.
