Safe to say that Summer is the best time of the year! The sun is out more, school is out for the summer, and life seems to be a little bit easier. With the summer months approaching us very swiftly we must take in consideration both having an outstanding time but also remaining focused and benefiting from a well needed break. In this short passage I will talk about staying focused during the summer while also having the time of your life.
For different people, summer can mean a lot of different things. It could be working a summer job whereas for others it could mean hanging out at the beach with friends everyday. For some, they reap the benefits of having a summer job and enjoying summertime amenities. But what is consistent amongst all us returning students is that we must also prepare for the semester ahead. During this summer in particular, we don’t necessarily have a clue as to what the climate of the world will be like. But that should not hold you back from doing certain things such as writing and reading to ensure that you are ready for the next semester.
It is important to organize a schedule that is not only balanced but obtainable. Within this schedule you must find time to accomplish certain academic, athletic, and leisure goals. So for example after a long semester of learning about American history, you should maintain that reading and look to expand on your knowledge in that topic. Considering the fact that a good majority of the campus are athletes it should be a goal for student-athletes to want to return to campus much faster and stronger than the previous seme
ster. Lastly, because it is summer and you deserve to have fun, set some travel goals for yourself. You work hard all year long and occasionally it is okay to kick your feet up and reward yourself.
Do to the climate of the world in terms of COVID-19, I wouldn’t be doing you a service by not telling you to be safe and mask up! Yes, I agree the summer is a time to relax and enjoy yourself but it is methods and protocols that should be followed to ensure the safety of you and others. Be smart about the choices you make this summer Bobcats and remember to stay focus this summer and come back in the Fall a better you!
