With this fall semester coming to a close, many wonder how to spend their nearly two months worth of time off school. Though we are still living through a pandemic, there are many responsible ways to spend your time, without worrying about risking the wellbeing of you or your loved ones. While staying home during the holidays may seem like the easiest way to prevent COVID, it may not be a viable option for many. Though this holiday season may not be as traditional as you would hope for you and your family, it is still possible to make the most of the time you will have together.
The safest means of travel would be to avoid public transportation such as buses, trains, or planes as much as possible to avoid contact with anyone that could potentially have COVID, and then possibly giving it to family members. Instead, try to keep travelling in small groups of people you’re typically around on a normal basis, and avoid stopping at too many public areas before reaching your destination.

When hosting a possibly holiday party or family get together, keep in mind the number of COVID cases that are present in your area. Limiting the number of attendees to a small group of relatives or those close to your everyday life can also lessen chances of you or someone coming in contact with the virus.
If holding an event is inevitably going to occur, it is recommended that the party stay in one central area such as one’s home instead of mingling in public at restaurants that will most definitely be busy during the holidays. Many families may enjoy going out to a restaurant in order to avoid cooking for such a large number of people, but you may want to stay at home and dining in for such a large group.
Even though you may take precautions for the safety of you and your family, it is still possible to enjoy the time spent together without the anxiety of jeopardizing your health. Making the most of spending time with your family and keeping them safe is far more important than going out during the holidays.
