Our college is a residential campus meaning most kids up through senior year live in a dorm. There are those of course who get a group or sports team together and live in an off campus house that the school provides. Those houses can be applied for at the end of a school year for the following one. For those wondering, there are students who live completely off campus and have apartments or share houses around Buckhannon but in order to do so, a form must be turned into the college with a good enough excuse to get out of it.

The pros of living on campus include being very close to activities. This means if you have a friend who wants to go to the basketball game tonight, you are more likely to make the decision to stop by when the dorms are so close. With a room comes a meal plan, you don’t have to cook your own meals! The cafeteria offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner and usually offers multiple options for all three. For students in a rush, there is the option to grab and go at Sunny Bucks.
Why might you want to live in an apartment? Well that’s because it is cheaper. The reason is usually because of the meal plan. If you choose 14 meals a week, it costs a student $4,898. Personally I know if I am weight lifting and bulking it means I have to eat lots and it be good food (fruits and veggies). That costs me about $200-250 a month or $1000-1500 a YEAR. That’s a big difference to almost five grand and that doesn’t include summer living. However, you don’t have a chance to just hang out in your room with the door open and have some gals or guys stop by if passing and talk or hangout in the lobby and watch a movie whenever you want.
