Some students are overly concerned with the fall 2020 semester, due to COVID-19. This will undoubtedly be the most unique semester. The college has worked tirelessly with all that’s going on.
The decision to remain online by WVWC was a shock to the entire student body. Most importantly, to the stress levels of students and colleagues. How will we continue the Wesleyan tradition of greater education? As the fall 2020 semester gets underway, many emotions are going through students’ heads. Most importantly, the thought of how the “2020 semester” affects my spring 2021 semester going forward. Many students are graduating while others are entering their final two semesters. Others are advancing into new courses as a freshman, sophomore, or junior.
Here is what you need to know: Resources with the school continuing online. We will need to utilize our resources. Things such as the writing center, the counseling services, spiritual religion, the student senate, professor office hours, and, most importantly, communicating — with all the faculty if you have any problems. As we continue to embrace the online schooling provided by WVWC, we must admit we all have challenging moments, as well as our professors.
As they continue to meet the needs of all WVWC students, the fall semester will set the foundation for return in spring semester while being at home remotely and trying to juggle so many things as well as making sure you continue to keep up with meetings, classes, projects, tests, and your grades.
As we transition through the semester, it’s time to settle in while focusing on the importance of getting through this semester in order to be successful for the spring as we continue to get through this unprecedented time of the COVID-19 virus. Some of the really good perks include having time for office hours. Professors like to put a name to a face and have a connection. Also collaborating with peers. However, there is a right and wrong way to do this, but use the efficient way and that’s to be honest. Getting a night of goodnight rest, trying to review your notes regularly, and making study sheets prior to the exam allows the brain to process the material. Do the little things that will allow you to break through the fall COVID-19 semester. Some of the drawbacks to not being successful this semester include not being able to graduate on time, being overwhelmed and stressed, turning in late work missing points, and dropping out of courses.
